The Plan
This community needs a good developer who has a good standing with the city of Albuquerque. NewLife Homes is the perfect option. Being premier award winning sustainable living developers, you are the perfect option. The first thing that must happen is to find a location for the new living community. We need it to be close to Central because this is one of the major problem areas. There are few empty lots big enough within walking distance from Central Avenue and some abandoned buildings closer that could be renovated. Your organization has renovated buildings before so this would be an easy solution.
After we select a few possible locations we need to rally supporters and take our development plans to the city. If we get a good following on our side in support of the community, it will be easier to pressure the city into supporting this development. This process can often times be lengthy, but with the connections your organization has, and the force of a community in support the process may speed up. Hopefully this will not take more than a few months. Depending on what location is approved, how much funding we may receive from the city and other donations or fundraising will be a big factor in the size and quality of the community.
One location that would be an easy renovation is an abandoned office building on the corner of Central and San Mateo. The building has lots of space and has been vacant for a very long time. Beautifying the building and converting the spaces into living spaces will be cheaper than building a new complex. Finding volunteers to help restore the building will be easy and save more money. If at the end there is money left over, that money will be used to offer cheaper rental prices, other community programs to assist the homeless, or may be put away to save for another community.
